Barrier–free
playgrounds are specially designed so that all children, no matter what ability level, can play together. There are multiple
components that encourage self- directed play. Ramps and wider aisles allow for walkers and wheelchairs to have access at
many entry/exit points. Sensory areas allow children to experience learning through plants and objects (many times musical)
to play with. Larger areas for group play as well as smaller "hideaways" are available for individual exploration.
They are welcoming places where all children can have fun! As you can see by the pictures below, while unique, these playgrounds
have all of the common elements one would expect to see at a playground.
